The DC Circulator has made a series of videos extolling the virtues of local businesses reachable by their buses. We were delighted when they asked to profile Peregrine Espresso and amazed at what they came up with.
Check out the video here and, while you’re at it, learn about our Capitol Hill comrades at Good Stuff Eatery as well as NW friends Sticky Fingers Bakery and Garden District among others.
Oh, and today is Earth Day–do something good for the planet. For our part, we are contacting some farmers about accepting our compostable materials and working on some sources for travel mugs. And continuing to serve sustainable coffee, grass-fed milk in reusable glass bottles, etc.
Happy rainy Monday.
This weekend, I was proud to be in attendance as a new World Barista Champion was crowned at this year’s Specialty Coffee Association of America’s annual Symposium and Exposition in Atlanta. Gwilym Davies of the UK came out on top among a field of 52 national champions including finalists from Canada, USA, Ireland, Hungary and Korea. Amazing weekend for coffee and I’m excited for this newly crowned ambassador for specialty coffee. Hear NPR tell the story here.
Also, we added a new coffee to our menu late last week: Bwayi Lot 8, Burundi. Read Counter Culture’s coffee bio on their website. This is a delicious coffee and we are pleased to be able to offer it.
We debuted two new drinks this afternoon for next month or so. We had a lot of fun with the drinks from the Mid-Atlantic Barista Competition that we’ve been serving the past six weeks and have changed the menu to include a couple new concoctions.
Tribute to Idido: Blueberry-lemon syrup, espresso, topped with steamed cocoa nib-infused half and half. Served with a square of Askinosie San Jose del Tambo chocolate.
“The Larry David”: Coconut milk and whole milk base, espresso and lime with a spoonful of basil pop rocks.
In other news, we will be open our regular hours tomorrow.
